David Brooks has signed a new long-term contract with AFC Bournemouth.
The 21-year-old Wales ace only joined the Cherries last summer in a £10million switch from Sheffield United.
But Brooks has been rewarded for an impressive first season in the Premier League which has left him in the running for Young Player of the Year.
The club will also hope the improved contract will make it harder for him to be prized away from the Vitality Stadium amid reports linking him in a £40million move to Manchester United and Tottenham.
“When talks started about a new deal it was something I wanted and it didn’t take long to sort out,” said Brooks, who has scored six goals in 26 games as well as picking up the club’s Player of the Month award three times.
“When I arrived at the club, not many people would have anticipated the start I have made – myself included.
“I’m happy with the amount of games I’ve played and the performances I’ve put in for the team.
“I’ve loved every minute of my time here so far and I’m really happy to extend my contract.”
Cherries boss Eddie Howe made Brooks his first signing last summer with the Blades understood to have a sell-on clause in the then four-year contract.
Brooks made his comeback from an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend having been on the sidelines for a month.
“David has impressed everyone from the minute he stepped through the door, with his mature, creative performances on the pitch backed up by a good attitude and professional lifestyle off it,” said Howe.
“This contract means he can concentrate on developing his game with us, and it’s been an excellent start to David’s AFC Bournemouth career.”
AFC Bournemouth chief executive, Neill Blake, said: “I am delighted that we have agreed a new long-term contract with David.
