County boosted their survival hopes with a vital 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town at Rodney Parade at the weekend, but remain 22nd in EFL League Two after wins elsewhere for teams around them.
Despite that, Fuchs is adamant the equation is simple.
"It was even more important to get the win," he said.
"But it actually doesn't matter; we're not looking at the other teams. We're looking at ourselves and if we continue winning then everything is in our own hands.

Attention now turns to a crucial showdown with fellow strugglers Crawley Town this weekend with Newport level on points with their next opponents and just two clear of Barrow, who also have a game in hand.
"It's going to be a good one against Crawley," added Fuchs.
“We are only looking forward now. We must push forward and focus on our own performance. It’s all about us. If we can continue the way we are playing and continue to collect points it really doesn’t matter what the others are doing."

The decisive moment against Shrewsbury came midway through the second half when Bobby Kamwa struck his second goal of the season to seal three crucial points.
Fuchs was quick to praise the winger’s impact and hopes the goal can spark a strong finish to the campaign.
"It's one great moment from Bobby Kamwa where he finally hits the goal," said Fuchs. "I'm really pleased for him.
"It helps every player to have those moments to score a goal, especially the front players.
"Bobby has so much quality on the ball. There should be a penalty given to us, why would he go down?
"He takes on players, he's very unpredictable because he can go on the outside or the inside.
"I'm very happy for him that he found the back of the net today."
Victory was particularly important given recent setbacks, with Newport having suffered late defeats against Bromley and Walsall prior to the weekend.
Fuchs highlighted the character shown by his squad to respond.
"The boys have dealt with everything that was thrown their way. It was a great team performance and it was a team win," he said.
"That's what I like about my team, we can add more and more the longer the game goes on.
"We have it in our own hands. That's all we are looking for. It's only important what we are doing."
"It was a big relief," he added. "It was a great moment from Bobby - thanks to the wind! He has so much ability on the ball. He didn't stop and he's very unpredictable because he can on the outside or come on the inside. I'm very happy for him, and for the whole team.
"We didn't get what we deserved from the games against Bromley and Walsall, but to continue with the right mentality shows the character in the team - to keep their heads up and keep going.
"It was bound to be a scrappy game because the wind didn't help anybody play football," added the manager. "I think it was tough for both teams, but my boys were really brilliant. They played their heart out."
Ahead of the Crawley clash, Fuchs has called on supporters to replicate the atmosphere that helped drive his side over the line against Shrewsbury.
“I hope we will have many more coming to the stadium on Friday," he said.
"We need all the support from our fans. They were brilliant today. From the very first whistle they had our back – the Amber Army was so loud.”
With injuries easing—Lee Jenkins and Michael Spellman both nearing returns—Newport head into the final stretch knowing their fate is still firmly within their control.
