Forget the World Cup, and Enjoy Glamorgan Against the Tykes!

The Dragon Diary

The Dragon Diary

It was meant to be the week when Wales fans would start planning their World Cup trip to the USA, Canada and Mexico - the wealthy ones, at least.

But the heartbreaking defeat on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina last Thursday night means Tuesday night’s match at home to fellow stumblers Northen Ireland is for a kind of Celtic Consolation Cup - and let’s face it, no-one is going to be doing laps of honour around the Cardiff City Stadium with that trophy.

So, let’s look elsewhere for something a little more . . . appetising.

Cricket is back! And Glamorgan are back in Division One of the County Championship.

They start their campaign at home at Sophia Gardens on Friday when they host Yorkshire - their first match in the top flight for 21 years.

Whatever happens to Glammy this season, they won’t lose out in a penalty shoot-out.
