Llanelli and their star man Leon Britton head to The New Saints on Saturday night looking to build on his debut win last weekend.
Britton put pen to paper a week ago for the relegation threatened Reds, who will face a stern test at title chasing Saints.
Llanelli are five points adrift of safety and Britton says he is looking forward to the challenge his new team face.
“I’ll always put pressure on myself to be the best that I can be, to train as hard as I can, play my game as well as I can like I’ve done my whole career, and that approach has served me well before so hopefully if I can do the same here it’ll serve me well in this period from now until the end of the season,” he said.
“I want to help push this team up the table, that is the main objective from now until the end of the season, but on a personal note I just want to get back to enjoying my football. I just want to enjoy the game from now until the end of the season, get the boots back on, hopefully get some wins and be able to look back on this time at the end of the season as something I really enjoyed.”
Manager Andy Hill says Britton’s presence is already having a positive influence: “The players are just benefiting hugely from having him out there, he’s just talking to them and helping them through it, he picks up on what I’m asking the team to do straight away and can explain it on the pitch.
“It goes without saying, he’s going to be absolutely huge for us and without doubt, he’s the biggest signing in the league’s history.”
The top-six clubs have already been confirmed ahead of the final round of Phase 1 fixtures with all six matches kicking-off simultaneously.
Connah’s Quay travel to Carmarthen Town with both Barry Town and The New Saints within reach.
The title-chasing Nomads continue hit six at Aberystwyth Town last weekend but manager Andy Morrison says he wants a defensive-first performance against the Old Gold.
“We head to Carmarthen in great form having scored 10 in our previous two games and looking a real threat every time we get near the opposition goal, but anyone who knows me would tell you I’d always take a 2-0 win over a five or 6-1 win – I’ve always seen clean sheets as the key ingredient to success over a season,” said the Nomads boss.
“Carmarthen have shown on many occasions this season that they can score goals and win games of football, so the standards we have set and me for the majority of the season will need to be met again on Saturday night if we are to stay at the top of the league.”
Carmarthen Town have had off-field worries to contend with in the lead up to the game after being charged of fielding an ineligible player in their recent game against Llanelli.
The club are understood to have lodged an appeal after being charged of playing suspended defender Dave Vincent in their 2-0 win over Llanelli on New Year’s Day and face a possible fine and points deduction if found guilty.
Second-placed Barry Town United host an Aberystwyth side, desperate to end a run of defeats which shattered their top-six hopes.
Bala Town, fifth, are looking for their first win in three at home to fellow top-six competitors Caernarfon.
Newtown entertain slumping Cefn Druids and basement side Llandudno host in-form Cardiff Met.
