Impressive young left-back Cameron Pring has left Southern League Merthyr Town.
Pring made his final appearance for the Martyrs in their 5-4 home defeat against Slough Town.
Merthyr don’t have a natural replacement on the left of their defence, but have plenty of defenders available with Curtis McDonald now fit again.
Bristol City’s Pring signed for on an initial one month loan and that was extended to a second month, but the Championship club want him back at Ashton Gate.
“I thank Cameron for his commitment during his time with us and Bristol City for allowing him to come to us on loan,” said manager Gavin Williams. “I think it has been beneficial for all parties and wish Cameron all the best on his return to Bristol.”
Merthyr are at home against Premier Division bottom club Gosport Borough at the Loadlok Community Stadium on Saturday and it’s crucial they earn a more-boosting win.
The Welsh team have conceded 10 goals in their last two matches, allowing a four-goal lead to slip away during their 5-4 midweek defeat against Gosport.
The visitors, from Hampshire, are adrift at the bottom having earned only one point from 12 matches this season. They have scored nine goals and conceded 42.
Gosport manager Mick Caitlin was appointed only a few weeks ago following the departure of Alex Pike. He could only name one substitute for their 7-2 defeat at Dorchester Town last time put.
The visitors were also rocked when chief executive Mark Adams resigned after only nine weeks in his role.
Merthyr, though, can’t worry about Gosport’s woes and need to regain form.
They were outstanding up to half-time against Slough, but faded badly after the break.
Manager Williams have striker Stuart Fleetwood, who has completed his three-match suspension, available again.
