Cardiff City need three wins from their last four Championship fixtures of the season to be certain of promotion to the Premier League.

Leaders Wolves are up and the Bluebirds are firmly in control of their bid to join them.

Cardiff’s 2-0 win at Norwich City and Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Brentford leaves City back in second place and their next match is against Nottingham Forest at home next Saturday (7.45pm).

Manager Neil Warnock was delighted with his team after a 2-0 win against Norwich City at Carrow Road, saying: “That felt as though it is the best three points of the season.

“I was deflated after the last two games. We didn’t get what we deserved in the last two.

“It’s been difficult to pick the lads up and we had a bit of a sluggish start. We had to hang in there.

“They were always going to have a lot of possession, but I thought we defended really well.

“Gary Madine was fabulous. He did all the hard work and then Ken Zohore got the cream.

“I couldn’t fault anything. You can see what my team are like. They have big hearts.

“When you have a group of lads like this who die for you it makes you feel so proud as a manager.

“Sean Morrison today was a 12/10, a colossus. Manga did well when he went on, too, and the full-backs and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge were excellent.”

Fulham’s match at the Cottage was an early evening kick-off and their failure to win gave Cardiff an extra lift.

Aleksandar Mitrović fired Fulham ahead in the 80th minute, while the Bees equalised in the last minute of injury through substitute Neal Maupay.

Remaining fixtures for top four teams in the Championship:

Wolves: Birmingham (H), Bolton (A), Sheffield Wednesday (H), Sunderland (A).

Cardiff City: Nottingham Forest (H), Derby (A), Hull (A), Reading (H).

Fulham: Millwall (A), Sunderland (H), Birmingham (A).

Aston Villa: Ipswich (A), Derby (H), Millwall (A).
