Cardiff City have been drawn at home against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup second round.

The teams have already clashed in the Championship this season with manager Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds winning 1-0 thanks to a late Kenneth Zohore striker.

Premier League Swansea City travel to MK Dons in the second round, while Newport County were drawn at home against Leeds United, but will play the tie at Elland Road.

Newport’s Rodney Parade pitch is being relaid and they are starting their season with a series of away fixtures.

They have already played Stevenage (3-3) and Southend (2-0) away and travel to Crewe and Coventry in their next two League fixtures.

County will then go to Leeds before their first home fixture on the new playing surface, against Chesterfield on Saturday, August 26.

Manager Mike Flynn and his Newport team were moved from the South section to the north to avoid being drawn against West Ham, who also need to play away in the second round.

All ties will be played during the week starting August 21.

Among other top matches are Burnley’s trip to play Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers. Former Bluebirds goalkeeper Tom Heaton plays for Burnley, while ex-Cardiff players Peter Whittingham and Craig Conway are at Blackburn.

West Ham and West Brom face tricky trips to League Two sides Cheltenham Town and Accrington Stanley.

Leicester City travel to Sheffield United, while AFC Bournemouth are on the road and visit manager Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City at St Andrews.

That is an ideal draw for Redknapp, who has played and managed Bournemouth.

The seven Premier League clubs who are playing in Europe enter the competition in the third round, joining the 25 winners from the North and South sections.

Carabao Cup second round draw:

South section: Brentford v QPR, Ipswich v Crystal Palace, Bristol City v Watford, Charlton v Norwich, Cheltenham v West Ham, Brighton v Barnet, Cardiff v Burton Albion, Southampton v Wolves, Fulham v Bristol Rovers, MK Dons v Swansea, Birmingham v Bournemouth, Reading v Millwall.

North section: Carlisle v Sunderland, Bolton v Sheffield Wednesday, Accrington Stanley v West Brom, Newcastle v Nottingham Forest, Newport County v Leeds (tie to be played at Elland Road at Newport’s request), Stoke v Rochdale, Huddersfield v Rotherham, Middlesbrough v Scunthorpe, Doncaster v Hull, Blackburn v Burnley, Sheffield United v Leicester, Aston Villa v Wigan, Barnsley v Derby/Grimsby (still to be played).
