Mansfield Town are planning a hostile reception for Cardiff City at Field Mill this evening (Tuesday, 7.45pm).
The Bluebirds take on the League One club in an FA Cup replay with Manchester City awaiting the winners in round four.
“Lets make our stadium passionate, hostile for the Championship club,” says Mansfield manager Steve Evans.
“We want a sell-out in the home end. Let’s make sure there’s not a spare seat.
“Our stadium has to be rocking and rolling. Every throw-in, every decision, let’s appeal for it, let’s contest it, not just myself.
“We want everybody behind the team, trying to get a positive result.
“We’re going to be backed by a fantastic support, as we normally are here at the One Call Stadium.
“It’s going to be the best attendance in the home end for any game this season. That’s a fantastic response from the Mansfield public.”
Around 900 Cardiff fans are making the trip to a stadium where the capacity is close to 10,000. Mansfield expect home tickets to be sold out.
The teams drew 0-0 at Cardiff City Stadium, but the Bluebirds are feeling far more confident after their 4-0 victory against Sunderland in the Championship.
That ended a run of four successive league defeats and Callum Paterson, who scored two goals against Sunderland, says: “Hopefully we’ve got our wobble out of the way and now the only way is up.
“We needed a lift because we’ve been struggling in the last four or five games.
“All teams struggles at some point in a season and hopefully this can be the kickstart we need to get us back up to where we want to be.
“I wouldn’t say I noticed the mood shift in the four games we lost, but from the start of this week we all noticed a massive lift.
“Everybody was up for training, buzzing. It paid off for us.
“We’ve had a tough schedule like everybody else so we can’t use that as an excuse.
“It was just a blip and everyone has them, so hopefully we can put it behind them and move on.”
Mansfield could have striker Kane Hemmings back this evening, although he will take a late fitness test.
He missed their goalless League Two draw against Cambridge United with a hamstring problem.
Winger Yanic Wildschut, Cardiff’s new loan signing, cannot be involved against Mansfield because he played for Norwich City in their third round draw. The replay is at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Manager Neil Warnock says he will select a strong starting line-up at Mansfield because the Bluebirds want to take on Manchester City in the fourth round.
