Manchester Untied starlet Regan Poole will turn back the clock this weekend by returning to Newport County colours against Exeter City.
Poole was snapped up as a 16-year-old by United back in 2015 after making 15 appearances for County. Now 20, he has won Wales Under 21 caps, spent a season on loan at Northampton and is looking for more first-team experience.
“I’m really happy to be back. As soon as I knew the club wanted me on loan, it was a no-brainer really,” said Poole.
“I feel like Newport can get promoted this season and I’m here to try and help them achieve that.”
Poole made his United debut as a substitute against Danish club Midtjylland in the Europa League in February, 2015, but hasn’t featured since. He made 24 appearances for Northampton last season.
The central defender has spent much of his time at Old Trafford as captain of the Under 23 team, but will be concentrating his efforts for the rest of the season in trying to get his former club back into the play-off and promotion race in League Two.
“I’m delighted Regan has signed for us. I know him well having brought him through the Academy ranks during my time as Academy Manager,” said Newport manager Michael Flynn.
“I knew then of his tremendous qualities and these will be invaluable to the team in the second half of the season. It’s a positive for the club that we have been able to sign a player from Manchester United.”
