Left-back Joe Bennett has committed to Cardiff City until 2021 and says: “We are going to enjoy ourselves in the Premier League.”

Former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa defender Bennett made 41 appearances for the Bluebirds last season and says: “I’m really happy.

“It got sorted out very quickly, so now I can just concentrate on my football and hopefully having a good season.

“I think we’ve got a good squad and the Manager has signed some good, young and hungry players. There is no pressure on us really and we can just go out and enjoy it.

“I just can’t wait to get the season going.”

Having signed for City back in August 2016, Bennett made the Bluebirds’ left-back position his own in the two years since.

He had one year left on his contract and has extended that deal for an extra two years.

Bennett signed his new deal at the HR Owen Ferrari London showroom in South Kensington and chief executive Ken Choo said: “Joe has performed admirably for the club since we welcomed him here two years ago.

“He seemed to reach another level in our promotion winning season and we know how excited he is to represent Cardiff City in the Premier League.

“We are delighted he has committed his future to Cardiff City and will continue his development with the Bluebirds.”
