Former Newport County and Merthyr Tydfil manager Tim Harris has joined Hereford FC following the departure of manager Peter Beadle.

Harris has been appointed head of football  and will work with club directors to recruit a new head coach.

Vanarama National League North club Hereford, promoted from Southern League football last season, opted for a change in manager following a run of three successive defeats.

Both Beadle and ex-Cardiff City player Steve Jenkins have left Hereford FC, whose squad includes Jamie Bird (former Bluebirds junior), Keyon Reffell and Ryan Green (ex-Merthyr Town) and Jennison Myrie-Williams (ex-Newport).

Emirates FA Cup qualifying ties are played this weekend.

Former Wimbledon striker and Newport manager Dean Holdsworth is among those linked with the job at Edgar Street, along with Lee Clark.

He played for Newcastle United and was Birmingham City manager.

Hereford have won only three times in nine league matches and made the change in manager to try and ensure they stay on course to achieve their ambition of a return to the Football League over the next few years.

The Bulls are at home against Truro City, nicknamed the White Tigers, in their Emirates FA Cup tie this Saturday.

Truro reached the first round proper last season and newly-appointed manager Leigh Robinson, a former Taunton Town team boss who has ex-Wales under-21 international Michael Meaker as his assistant, says: “We’re going to need big characters to step up to the plate. It will be a good test in front of a big crowd.

“This is the FA Cup and anything can happen. I’ve seen enough positives from my opening couple of games to know that we’re moving in the right direction.

“We have worked hard in preparation for this game. The lads are putting the effort in as we look to get our fitness levels to where they need to be.

“It’s something that won’t happen overnight but we are getting there.

“A good Cup run would be a big help to the club on and off-the-field, so we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got.”

Cardiff City played both Hereford FC and Truro City in pre-season friendlies.

Omar Bogle, Anthony Pilkington and Rhys Healey scored for the Bluebirds in a 3-0 win against Hereford at Edgar Street, while goalkeeper Lee Camp, Matt Connolly, Kadeem Harris and Lee Tomlin also played for Cardiff.

Tomlin, Pilkington and Camp also played for City at Truro when the Welsh club won 2-0.
