Barry Town United paid tribute to their former goalkeeper Trevor Nott in style.
He was a long-serving Barry player who has passed away and Nott’s family, including four grandchildren, were at Jenner Park for United’s 11-0 Welsh League win against Risca United.
Title-chasing Barry were in irresistible form with Drew Fahiya and TJ Nagi both firing hat-tricks.
Manager Gavin Chesterfield and his team must finish in the First Division top two to earn promotion, but their focus is to win the championship.
They are the only club in Division One who have been awarded the domestic licence needed to earn promotion and take their place in the Welsh Premier League.
They are five points ahead of second-placed Goytre FC with three fixtures left. The first of those is at home against Goytre United at Jenner Park on Tuesday (7.30pm).
Barry’s scorers against Risca were Fahiya (3), Nagi (3), Jordan Cotterill (2), Luke Cooper, Lee Baldock and Tyrelle Webb.
They now have a plus 41 goal difference, far superior to any of their rivals.
A Barry win against Goytre United on Tuesday would ensure the Vale of Glamorgan club are promoted because rivals Goytre FC and Penybont still have to play each other.
They need four points to be certain of winning the championship.
While Barry Town United go for gold in the First Division, Llanelli Town have clinched promotion into Division One.
Llanelli are still unbeaten after 24 League matches and have a goal difference of plus 61. Their latest match ended in a goalless draw against AFC Port away and they travel to Garden Village on Bank Holiday Monday (7.30pm).
