Bala Town and Cefn Druids have both benefited from Connah’s Quay’s JD Welsh Cup success over Aberystwyth as the final stages of the JD Welsh Premier League season are confirmed.
Bala Town would have entered a four-way European play-off if Connah’s Quay had lost yesterday’s final, but Bala are now the grateful recipients of an automatic European place after the Nomads saw off Aberystwyth.
Connah’s Quay had already been awarded one European spot through their third-place league finish meaning their Welsh Cup European qualification spot now gets passed down the table to the next nearest side, which was fourth-placed Bala.
With only three-teams left to compete in the end of season play-offs for the league’s last unclaimed European qualification spot, fifth-placed Cefn Druids, the highest seeds, are given an automatic bye to the WPL Play-Off final which they will host.
The remaining two play-off teams Cardiff Met and Barry Town will play each other in a one-off tie next Saturday, to determine who will face Cefn Druids in the final.
