Jordan Hugill would only consider staying at Cardiff City next season if Norwich City no longer want him. Striker Hugill has been a big success since he joined the Bluebirds on loan in January – scoring three times and providing two assists in 11 league appearances. But it is the fact that Cardiff have only lost twice in that sequence, with Hugill providing a focal point in seven victories, that underlines the value of the 29-year-old’s all-round contribution.
Adam Wedge celebrated a notable Welsh double at Cheltenham by paying tribute to trainer Evan Williams. Wales Women head coach Ioan Cunningham has targeted three wins from their upcoming Six Nations campaign. Welsh trainer Rebecca Curtis hopes Lisnagar Oscar will be doing more than simply sending a signal of support for the people of Ukraine, when he runs at Cheltenham on Thursday. The horse and Welsh jockey Adam Wedge will cut striking figures at the Festival as they will be wearing the blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian flag. Jockeys have been wearing armbands in those national colours at Cheltenham to show their support for the Ukrainian people, who are suffering a humanitarian crisis following the Russian invasion of their country.

Skipper Bale and Ramsey head into the semi-final tie against Austria in Cardiff on March 24 following recent injury struggles. Cardiff City face Stoke City at the Cardiff City Stadium tonight and boss Steve Morison admits his side have come a long way since they faced Stoke earlier on in the season. The reverse fixture at the end of October was Morison’s first game as interim manager and his side found themselves 3-0 down just after half time as they looked to end an eight game losing streak. “We went 2-0 down and we had to have a good conversation at half time,” admits Morison.

Wayne Pivac has denied suggestions Wales have brought back Alun Wyn Jones as a marketing ploy to sell tickets. The 36-year-old second row has regained fitness from a shoulder injury to come back straight into the side for their final match of the Six Nations at home to Italy on Saturday. It will be Jones’ 150th cap for Wales – a landmark achievement – while Dan Biggar, who retains the captaincy, will become the seventh Welsh player to reach 100 appearances for his country.

The Ospreys midfielder, who took over the Welsh captaincy from the suspended Alex Mann, says his side have bounced back from adversity before and they deserve to finish off their campaign with a victory. “We have worked hard throughout this tournament; we’ve had to bounce back from adversity after the first game, so we have shown a lot of character already. Wales head coach Ioan Cunningham believes his team are well placed to make an impact in the Tik Tok Women’s Six Nations despite defeat to the USA in their warm-up game. Cunningham’s side lost 31-23 to the Americans at Parc y Scarlets at the weekend, where the previously overlooked Sioned Harries made her first appearance in over two years.
