Natasha Cockram hopes her stunning victory at the Cardiff Half Marathon has put her on the road to running for Wales at the Commonwealth Games. Cockram produced the run of her career over 13.1 miles on Sunday to clinch the Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon title in style on home soil. Students who took charge of Ffos Las for race day in a ground-breaking collaboration have been congratulated on a job well done. The group helped manage the entire operation for the Match 23 meeting, working across a variety of roles from general manager to organising kitchen staff. Working alongside new Ffos Las general manager Kevin Hire, the tourism and events students from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to help produce a memorable day’s racing for the public in glorious early spring sunshine.

Wales have been backed to beat Austria on Thursday night by the manager who took his own nation to the threshold of the World Cup finals. Former Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill reckons Wales can move to within one step of making it to Qatar – and their first World Cup finals appearance since 1958 – by winning their play-off semi-final at the Cardiff City Stadium, in a match that is live on S4C. O’Neil believes the cards have all fallen in Wales’ favour, with a home tie, the apparent fitness of superstar pair Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, and the delay in any play-off final until June because of the conflict in Ukraine.
