Navigating on a road rally for the first time in 10 years, the Machynlleth ace guided Rhodri Evans to victory on the Snow Liner Road Rally.
London Welsh have just secured promotion – again – their fourth in five years. It’s a story of determination, togetherness and honest self-appraisal finally overcoming the odds. Owen Morgan went to Old Deer Park and discovered a famous club re-born. Dafydd Iwan’s Yma of Hyd could be clearly heard by visitors admiring the famous cherry blossoms and iconic Great Pagoda of London’s iconic Kew Gardens on Saturday afternoon. The music was drifting on a light spring breeze from the neighbouring Old Deer Park rugby ground where the rousing Welsh lyrics were booming out over the public address system.
Michael Obafemi revealed he was driven by the desire to make history after his two-goal raid inked his name into Welsh football folklore. The Swansea City striker bookended a stunning victory for his club against their bitterest rivals and now his name – and his club’s 4-0 win at Cardiff City – will be talked about in Wales for years. Not only did it help Swansea debunk the well-worn statistic that neither club had ever managed a league double over the other in 110 years of trying, but it was Swansea’s biggest derby victory for 73 years.
Wales captain Siwan Lillicrap has told her team they need to sharpen up from the starting gun if they are to sustain their superb start to the TikTok Women’s Six Nations. Lillicrap’s side came from behind for the second consecutive match to secure a 24-19 victory against Scotland at Cardiff Arms Park. The result – following their opening comeback victory in Ireland – means Wales are celebrating back-to-back Six Nations wins for the first time since 2015, while Scotland’s wait for victory in Cardiff, which goes back to 2004, continues.
Michael Obafemi has transformed his character as much as his goal return in the past few weeks at Swansea City. The Swansea striker scored his team’s first and last goals as they totally outclassed their rivals with a 4-0 away win – their biggest Welsh derby victory since 1949.

The Dragons are one match away from making their first World Cup appearance since 1958 following a Gareth Bale-inspired 2-1 victory against Austria last month. Wales will meet Scotland or Ukraine for a place in the finals, with England lying in wait in Qatar on November 29 if Page’s men triumph.
Jockey Ben Jones has admitted he only knew he had reached 100 career wins because his father Dai told him! Jones Jnr recently celebrated the career milestone when he rode Beau Haze to victory at Chepstow to give him his 37th win of the season. But the 22-year-old might not have spotted the looming century mark had Dai – Clerk of the Course at Ffos Las Racecourse – not kept a close eye on the rising tally for the young Welsh rider.
Russell Martin has urged his Swansea City players to grasp the opportunity to become history-makers in the derby at Cardiff City on Saturday. The Swans head coach has suggested the chance to become the first Welsh team to do a league “double” over their rival should be another motivating factor when his team visit the Cardiff City Stadium. Following the Swans’ 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture in October, the visitors have the chance to complete the first league double in the 110-year history of the fixture.

In the 110-year history of Newport County there have been a plethora of unhappy days. May 31, 2021 was a million miles from the worst, but it still hurt for those with amber blood in their veins.
By Owen Morgan Almost 30,000 fans singing Yma O Hyd along with Dafydd Iwan. A spine-tingling acapela rendition of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. And the most perfectly placed free-kick I’ve witnessed live. Cardiff v Swansea, history on the line, […]
Guess which Welsh region is holding up the others in the URC table as we head into the final stages of the season? Yep, the Dragons. Again. Dean Ryan is under the spotlight and Daniel Parker reckons if there’s no sign of any late upturn then it will be time for change. It’s not a nice time to be a Dragons fan, but speaking from experience, when has it ever been? In 13 out of the 18 seasons of the regional rugby era, the Men of Gwent have been the worst-performing Welsh region: a statistic that belies the proud traditions of one of Wales’ great rugby heartlands.
