Angel Rangel has told Swansea City they made a major error in moving Alan Curtis away from a coaching role at the club. Club legend Curtis has been reinstated as a coach with the first team by new manager Graham Potter, who has also brought in Bjorn Hamburg as an assistant from former club Ostersund […]
Lukasz Fabianski has spoken of his regret at leaving Swansea City after completing his £7m move to West Ham. The goalkeeper was an unused substitute at the World Cup on Tuesday as Poland opened their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Senegal. Following that match, the Hammers announced on Wednesday morning they have signed Fabianski, who spent four years at the Liberty Stadium following a move from Arsenal.
Graham Potter has conceded that Swansea City players who want to leave will be allowed to go as Lukasz Fabianski, Alfie Mawson and Jordan Ayew near the exit door. The new Swansea City manager says if the price is right then players who wish to stay in the Premier League will be granted their request. Swans goalkeeper Fabianski is understood to be close to joining West Ham for around £8m, while Mawson is also wanted by the Hammers who will be asked to pay at least £20m for the central defender.
Graham Potter will use his Swedish blueprint as he bids to lead Swansea back to the Premier League. The Englishman was finally confirmed as the club’s fifth manager in the last two years on Monday afternoon. Potter has signed a three-year contract with the Championship side following his exit from Swedish club Ostersunds. He will meet the media for the first time on Tuesday.
Swansea City have slashed match day tickets by one third following their relegation to the Sky Bet Championship. A day after confirming they had reached a deal with Graham Potter and his Swedish club Ostersunds for him to become their new manager, the Swans have confirmed that admission costs are to tumble. The club say they have already sold 15,000 season tickets for the new campaign following reductions and now individual prices have also been reduced – with adult prices going down from£45 (Category A) and £35 to a standard £30.
Graham Potter has tried to dampen speculation that he is about to be named as Swansea City’s manager. The current boss of Swedish club Ostersunds is understood to be close to being named as the successor to Carlos Carvalhal at the Liberty Stadium. The Swedish media are reporting that Potter has already agreed to take the job and that an announcement is expected to confirm his appointment on Friday, along with his assistants Billy Reid and Kyle Macaulay.
Swansea City are considering appointing a director of football to work alongside their new manager. Jaap Stam, Frank de Boer, Graham Potter and others are all options being weighed up by the club as they seek a successor to Carlos Carvalhal, who left last week. But relegation to the Championship and a poor recent recruitment record has focussed thoughts on whether the Swans should also create a new position with someone to work alongside Carvalhal’s successor.
Huw Jenkins has said it is “vital” Swansea City appoint the right manager following the departure of Carlos Carvalhal – sentiments the club chairman has expressed seven times in the last four years. Carvalhal – the man who often talked about throwing all the meat on the barbecue – finally ran out of gas on Friday. Five days after the club were officially relegated from the Premier League, the Swans issued a statement confirming that the Portuguese’s five-month stay would be extended.
Swansea City have been relegated and the inquests are likely to continue for some time. John Toshack sips his coffee and looks concerned as he surveys the sail boats in Swansea Bay. The club he began his 40-year management career with, the one he pulled and heaved from the old fourth division to the first, have slipped out of the Premier League.

If Swansea City have decided to get rid of their manager, then no-one has told Carlos Carvalhal. The club may be destined for the Championship, the flickering red needle of hope may have gone into the implausible zone on the survival gauge, but the Portuguese with a liking for seafood and marine life metaphors is toughing it out. His press conference on Friday featured a long statistical analysis of why his time in charge was not the reason the club are heading for the Championship.
Angel Rangel will leave Swansea City at the end of the season as the revamp of the squad begins. Just 24 hours after the Swans were all but condemned to relegation, it was revealed the club captain’s contract will not be renewed.
