The battle of two of the best scrum halves on the planet – Williams was a star on the British & Irish Lions tour before injury last summer and Dupont has three times been voted Player of the Tournament in the Six Nations – will be coming to Cardiff in Round 2 of the 2026 championship
French skipper Dupont, widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, will lead Les Bleus as they seek to defend the title they won last year.

He was captain in four of the five matches in 2025, missing the final game against Scotland through injury.
That was his sixth clash with his Welsh adversary in the tournament and he currently leads the head-to-head battle 5-1.

The one win to date for Gloucester skipper Williams came on his Six Nations debut in Paris in 2019.
Not only did Wales overturn a 16-0 interval lead for the French to win 24-19, but Williams scored the first of the three second half tries by Wales to launch the record fightback.
No wonder, then, that Dupont was the first to admit that he is a huge admirer of Williams at the official 2026 Six Nations launch in Edinburgh.
"I’ve played against him several times and he is a very good player - a key man for Wales," said Dupont.
"He is playing very well in the Prem as well, so it will be a good opportunity again."

Dupont is also a fan of the Principality Stadium, which he dubs as “probably my favourite stadium outside of France”, having won there twice already.
"The home fans make it very loud, the atmosphere is incredible and it is always special when you play there,” he added.

Antoine Dupont’s first game in Wales was at Prac Eirias, in Colwyn Bay, in the 2016 U20 Six Nations.
Wales won and went on to win their only Grand Slam at that age to date.
His scrum half opponent on that day was current Wales squad member Reuben Morgan-Williams.
