Steve Law is to become the new head coach of Cardiff RFC after having had a successful 16-year stint at Bedwas.
Law has signed on a three-year deal at the Arms Park and takes over from Duane Goodfield after another poor season by the Blue and Blacks.
Law is the longest-serving coach in the Premiership and this season guided unfancied Bedwas to a Fosters Cup triumph and also the semi-finals of the Premiership play-offs.
Law said: “I would first like to thank everyone at Bedwas or an incredible journey. It is a great club to have been involved in and I am happy that I have left my local club in a better state then when I first arrived. I felt that I was to move it must be now.
“Cardiff is a club with such history but it is one that still has huge potential having been disappointing in the Premiership for a few years. I will be bringing my own coaching staff with me and that helps in making all the pieces of the jigsaw fit’
Bedwas forwards coach Ian Gardner, Law’s assistant for most of those 16 seasons, becomes the club’s head coach.
But former scrum half Llyr Lane, who was assistant backs coach at Bedwas, will accompany Law to Cardiff with former Ebbw Vale lock Neil Edwards as the new Cardiff forwards coach.
