Toby Booth Insists Ospreys Are “Excited” By The Toughest European Draw Possible

Ospreys head coach Toby Booth insists he is looking forward to his team testing themselves against the best after their daunting draw for next season’s Heineken Champions Cup. The region’s reward for winning the Welsh Shield in the URC is a Heineken Champions Cup draw against French champions Montpellier and English champions Leicester Tigers. The draws for both the Champions Cup and the European Challenge Cup were made in Dublin, venue for both finals on 19 and 20 May next year, and included for the first time five teams from South Africa.

Wales Centre Ashley Beck Extends Worcester Warriors Deal

Wales international centre Ashley Beck has extended his stay at Sixways by signing a new contract with Warriors. Beck joined Warriors from Ospreys in the summer of 2018 and after his first season was cut short by a broken ankle, he has become a rock in the midfield over the past three seasons. The 32-year-old made his 50th appearance against Northampton Saints at Sixways in January and has now played 59 games and scored eight tries.

Fired Up Dragons Will Provide Big Test, Say Ospreys As George North Starts All Over Again

George North will make his first Ospreys start in over a year after being named at outside centre for Sunday’s Welsh derby against the Dragons in Swansea. The Wales centurion made his comeback as a replacement during last Saturday’s victory over the Scarlets. He will be partnered in midfield by Owen Watkin, with Michael Collins shifting to full-back where he is joined in the back-three by Keelan Giles and Alex Cuthbert Up front, Nicky Smith and Tomas Francis line up either side of last week’s URC Player of the Match, Dewi Lake, with the British and Lions pairing of Adam Beard and Alun Wyn Jones in the second row. Regional Fans Group Accuse WRU Of Being Sidelined After Plan To Axe One Region Are Revealed

The Joint Supporters Group representing fans of the four regions have revealed they have been waiting for a meeting with the Welsh Rugby Union for seven months. Responding to the revelation that the WRU are considering a proposal to cut the number of regions from four to three, the JSG have claimed the culling of one of their teams may be behind the long delay. Writing on Twitter in reply to a story in The Times that reveals the reduction proposal, the JSG state: “As we’re still waiting for the date of our next meeting with the Welsh Rugby Union, the news item below may explain why we are still waiting, 7 months after the original timeframe.
