Peter Creed Comeback Helps Wizards Romp To Whitewash Over Chichester

Peter Creed came from a game down to help the Welsh Wizards secure maximum points against Chichester and consolidate their third spot in the Premier Squash League. At a packed Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff on Tuesday night, Creed battled back from dropping his opening game to overcome giant Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid, 5-11, 11-5, 11-6. The victory over 6ft 4in Meguid ensured a Wizards’ 5-0 whitewash and means the Welsh team stay in third spot in the Southern Division, behind Luxfords St.George’s Hill of Surrey and London’s Tradition RAC.

At a packed Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff on Tuesday night, Creed battled back from dropping his opening game to overcome giant Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid, 5-11, 11-5, 11-6.

The victory over 6ft 4in Meguid ensured a Wizards’ 5-0 whitewash and means the Welsh team stay in third spot in the Southern Division, behind Luxfords St.George’s Hill of Surrey and London’s Tradition RAC.

The Wizards have now won two of their opening three game in their inaugural season and both their reputation and the pulsing atmosphere in front of a lively fan base is continuing to grow.

Next up, they host leaders St. George’s on November 27 in what is certain to be another sell-out clash.

Fresh from breaking into the women’s world top 10, Welsh Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Tesni Evans got the ball rolling for the Wizards when she over-powered Amanda Landers-Murphy, 2-0 (11-5, 11-3).

Building on her stunning success at the recent US Open, where she reached the semi-finals in Philadelphia, Evans always had too much for New Zealander Landers-Murphy, the world No.38.

On the other court, veteran David Evans won a tense battle against Miles Jenkins, taking the decider 11-9.

Wizards’ 20-year-old youngster Elliot Morris Devred was also taken to three games by the experienced Tim Vail, before edging the contest, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8.

Mazen Gamal, the Wizards’ own Egyptian, then came from a game down to beat Englishman Oli Pett, before Creed completed the rout in an intense and hard-earned win over Meguid.
