No Luggage, No Problem For Gerwyn Price Who Defies Travel Nightmare To Taste Glory In Poland

The journey to Poland Darts Masters glory was far from straightforward for Gerwyn Price, but the Welshman was at his rip-roaring best to ensure he took the crucial piece of luggage home.

Gerwyn Price feels his Polish travel nightmare was a good omen as he clinched victory at the Poland Darts Masters.

The Welshman arrived in Gliwice without his suitcase but went on to lift the title at the PreZero Arena to scoop the £30,000 top prize.

And while his trip to Poland was far from ideal, Price ensured he left Gliwice with the only piece of luggage required - the trophy!

“A couple of years ago I went to Ireland, I lost my suitcase and had to change my darts, change my clothes, change my shoes,” said the former world champion.

“I went on and won the Grand Slam and the rest is history!

“I’ve lost my case this weekend, so it’s been new darts, new shoes, new clothes and a new me, so here we go!”

Price - who has already won three Players Championship titles in 2025 - produced a solid display to beat Sebastian Bialecki 6-3 in the first round, but he hit peak levels on finals day.

The 40-year-old averaged more than 104 in beating Chris Dobey 6-2 in the quarter-finals before recording another ton plus average to defeat 2018 world champion Rob Cross 7-3 in the semi-finals.

Having trailed 4-2 at the break in the final against Stephen Bunting, Price won five of the next six legs before the Bullet eventually held throw again.

Bunting applied the pressure as he sought to force a last leg decider with Price left on 91, but two-time World Cup winner Price pinned double 17 and double 20 after a single 17 to clinch the title in some style.

“To go double-double in that final leg with Stephen sat on a double was fantastic. I’m over the moon," added Price after winning his fourth World Series of Darts title.

“I felt like I was missing opportunities and Stephen was taking advantage.

“I was getting frustrated with myself and to go into the break 4-2 down, I was disappointed, but I stuck in there until the end.”
