The old Cwm cue master won his first round match, 10-4, against Anton Kowalski on Saturday and now faces Barry Hawkins, who knocked out Wales’ Matthew Stevens.

With Cardiff City having secured promotion to the Championship on Saturday, there should be a party atmosphere for Wednesday night’s home game against Port Vale.

The United Rugby Championship action resumes on Friday night when Cardiff and the Ospreys – both bidding for the play-offs – meet at the Arms Park.
