First Shaun, Now Glamorgan Add Brother Mitch As The Marsh Brothers March Into Cardiff

Mark Wallace believes Glamorgan can give opponents double the trouble in the T20 Blast this summer after signing Mitch Marsh to go alongside brother Shaun.

Mitch – younger brother of Shaun – has been announced as the county’s second overseas player for the Vitality Blast.

The all-rounder will join up his fellow Australian Test playing brother from the end of July, after he is released by Australia A.

Director of cricket Wallace, said: “It’s great to sign Mitch Marsh up for the Vitality Blast. We’ve been looking to get hold of him for a while as we believe he is the ideal player to improve our team.

“He comes with a huge reputation in T20 cricket, with plenty of international experience and has also played in the IPL and the Big Bash so he knows how to play T20 cricket on the big stage.

“We were looking for a dual threat player, someone who can bowl with good pace and can bat in different positions in the order.

“He’s a very powerful striker of the ball and can either bat high up or lower down and give us some impetus in those middle overs as well so we’re delighted to have him on board.”

Mitch Marsh has made 95 appearances for his country, which includes 11 IT20 matches.

The 27-year-old also has a wealth of experience in domestic T20 cricket having played in the Big Bash for Perth Scorchers and in the IPL.

He has made seven T20 half-centuries in his career at an average over 30, with a strike rate above 120 and has taken 43 wickets at an average of 27.48 with a career-best of 4 for 6.

“I’m very excited to get the opportunity to join Glamorgan,” said Marsh. “I’ve heard good things about the club and city and I am always looking to improve and challenge myself as a cricketer, so to play in the Vitality Blast will be a really good experience.

“Shaun has obviously told me a lot about the club, and how friendly all the staff, players, coaches are so I’m really looking forward to get started.

“There’s a lot of talent at the club and they’ve done well over the last few years in the competition so we’ll definitely be looking to reach the knockout stages again and hopefully claim some silverware.”
