Ffion Tynan Earns Wales Call For South America

Ffion Tynan has been selected for Wales at senior women’s golf for the time after making the team to compete at the South American Amateur Championships in Chile in January.

The highly promising 16-year-old has been included in the Welsh line-up for the open team event after a string of impressive performances at recent tournaments.

Tynan finished seventh at this summer’s English Girls Open Amateur Championship – an event for U18s – tasted victory at the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and earned third place at the Welsh Ladies Amateur Championship.

The Pontyclun-born teenager is currently in the USA, where she is attending The G2 Golf Academy, based at Bluffton, South Carolina.

She is also due to play top level college golf in America from January 2021 after being given a place at the prestigious University of Arkansas.

After heading to Chile, Tynan will play further tournaments in Portugal, Spain and Italy before preparing for her spell in Arkansas.

Ffion and younger sister Elin are both current members of the Wales Gold High Performance Programme.
