Cardiff Devils will play Sheffield Steelers in Sunday’s Elite League ice hockey play-off final at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham.

Steelers won their semi-final against Belfast Giants 2-0 to earn the right to face Devils.

Player-coach Andrew Lord and his players are one game away from a Grand Slam of four trophies, having already won the League, Cup and Erhardt Conference.

No team has won all four in a single season.

Devils owner Steve King from Calgary, Canada to be at the play-off finals weekend, taking his seat among Cardiff fans.

Guillaume Desbiens fired Steelers ahead when he smashed a shot high over goalie Stephen Murphy’s shoulder and in a low intensity clash Sheffield saw the game out.

Goalie Ervins Mustukovs made some good saves, but Giants were below their best and lacked the creativity to open up Giants.

The match was settled when Giants pulled netminder Murphy late in the last minute. They had a player in the penalty box and were on a penalty kill while trying to chomp with the goal they needed.

It was Levi Nelson who steered the puck into an empty net to take Steelers into Sunday’s final.

That match will face-off at 4pm on Sunday and is the final fixture of the 2016-17 Elite League season.

Hundreds of Devils fans are in Nottingham for the play-off finals and old rivals Devils and Steelers go head-to-head again.
