Cardiff Devils Trio Named In League All Star Line-Up

Cardiff Devils have three players in the Elite League All-Star team for 2016-17. Goaltender Ben Bowns, Andrew Hotham and Joey Martin are all among the six players selected. Cardiff Devils have three players in the Elite League All-Star team for 2016-17.

Goaltender Ben Bowns, Andrew Hotham and Joey Martin are all among the six players selected.

Hotham teams up with Jim Vandermeer (Belfast Giants) on D, while Martin is named alongside Mathieu Roy (Sheffield Steelers) and Vinny Scarsella (Dundee Stars).

Devils play Dundee in the League play-off semi-finals at the National Ice Arena, Nottingham on Saturday (1pm), while Sheffield Steelers play Belfast Giants in the second game (5pm).

The final is at the same venue on Sunday (4pm).

Fife Flyers goaltender Shane Owen was selected as the Second All Star Team goaltender after a stand-out first season in Elite League, while Giants player-coach Derrick Walser and Dundee’s Felix-Antoine Poulin also made the team after both made a significant impact for their clubs during the season.

Braehead hot-shots Matt Beca, who led the League in points this year, and Scott Pitt, who led the league in goals, are joined by Belfast’s Blair Riley at forward to complete the line-up.

First All Star Team:

Goaltender: Ben Bowns (Cardiff Devils)

Defenceman:  Andrew Hotham (Cardiff Devils)

Defenceman:  Jim Vandermeer (Belfast Giants)

Forward: Joey Martin (Cardiff Devils)

Forward: Vinny Scarsella (Dundee Stars)
