Wales’s Speed Kings Azu And Gordon Gearing Up For Cardiff Showdown

Forget Manchester United’s flying winger Dan James and Wales’ rapid Rugby World Cup try machine Josh Adams, Wales’ real speed kings will be going head to head in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon. Sam Gordon and Jeremiah Azu are due to meet in a sprint showdown over 60m in the Non Thomas New Year Open at the National Indoor Athletics Centre. Azu is the fastest teenager in Europe and was the red-hot favourite to win gold at last summer’s European Under-20 Championships in Sweden before he was cruelly struck down by injury while leading in the final.

Remi Runs His Way Into GB Team To Make It A Welsh Fab Four At Euro U20 Champs

Versatile Welsh runner Remi Adebiyi has been added to the Great Britain team for the European Under-20 Championships in Sweden later this month. Adebiyi will join fellow Welsh athletes Jeremiah Azu, Sarah Omoregie and James Tomlinson, who qualified automatically for the team and were named in the original selection of 30 athletes two weeks ago.

Jake Heyward Leads Welsh Hopefuls In Euros Bid

Jake Heyward will be among more than 50 young Welsh athletes travelling to Bedford this weekend – with many on the hunt for qualification to this summer’s under-20 and under-23 European Championships. The England Athletics Under-20/Under-23 Championships and European Trials will be the last chance to claim selection for next month’s Euros in Sweden. The European Athletics U23 Championships will be staged in Gavle, between July 11-14 and the European Athletics U20 Championships in Boras, from July 18 to 21.
