James Tomlinson returns to the scene of his British U18 discus record breaking exploits when he competes for Britain’s Under-20 team in Loughborough on Sunday.

The Pembrokeshire thrower is one of four of Wales’ talented youngsters names in the GB squad for the prestigious international meeting where they will face many of their Welsh team-mates.

Commonwealth Youth Games silver medallist Tomlinson set the mark two years ago of 63.48m and is relishing competing again having just returned from a Welsh Athletics training camp in Portugal.

Cardiff’s Sarah Omoregie, like Tomlinson a Commonwealth Youth Games silver medallist, will also be returning to the Paula Radcliffe Stadium where she took shot put bronze last year.

Sarah Omoregie won shot put bronze in Loughborough last year.

Teenage sprint ace Jeremiah Azu lines-up in the 100m having set personal bests over both sprint distances competing for Cardiff at the British Athletics League meeting in Swansea last Sunday.

The times also took Azu to the top of the European Under-20 100m and 200m leading marks this season.

Team leader Trevor Painter said: “The team that we have selected for the Loughborough International match is one that we believe has the potential to score some good performances across the board for the British team.

“We see the match as a perfect stepping stone towards the European Under-20 Championships in Borås later this year and it offers a fantastic chance for some of the best rising stars in British athletics to test themselves against some of the best domestic athletes in the United Kingdom.”
