Wrexham demonstrated a real blend of grit and quality to ensure they ended 2025 with a Championship first.
Phil Parkinson's men beat promotion hopefuls Preston North End 2-1 at the Stok Cae Ras to claim back-to-back league wins for the first time this season having won 5-3 in a thriller against Sheffield United three days earlier.
It ensured the Red Dragons ended a memorable year - one in which they gained promotion from League One - in 11th place in the second tier, and crucially, just four points adrift of the play-off spots.
And when even the chief executive officer is talking about the club's lofty ambitions for the future, you know this is a side that has no intent of taking their foot off the accelerator.
After stating that Wrexham's "growth hasn't slowed" since the club finished second in the third tier in 2024-25, CEO Michael Williamson said: "Through all of this, one thing never changes: we're a club with our community at its heart and anchored in hometown roots.
"We're proud to share our success with the world, but it starts right here.
"We're ambitious, motivated, and ready to make 2026 even bigger."
So how can Wrexham possibly surpass the achievements already made under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac?
The squad may have the answer to that.
Nathan Broadhead - who scored the opener in the triumph over Preston - was the latest player to state that the club are targeting a play-off spot in the second tier this season.
Given their history over recent years, few would bet against them succeeding when it comes to that particular aim, especially with the January transfer window ready to be utilised.
The injury situation is also looking healthier too, with Liberato Cacace back in the matchday squad while Jay Rodriguez, Andy Cannon and Danny Ward are all primed for action after lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Wrexham have also turned their Stok Cae Ras home into a fortress again.
Having failed to win any of their opening five league games of the campaign, Parkinson's men are now unbeaten in 10 Championship matches on home soil.
Their growth in the division has been clear for all to see.
Wrexham collected just four of the first 15 points on offer at a rate of just 0.8 points per game.
But after losing 3-1 to Queens Park Rangers in mid-September, the Red Dragons have gone on to claim 30 points from a possible 57 at a much improved rate of 1.58 points per game.
Following victory over the Lilywhites, Parkinson stated that the target for 2026 is to "keep building as a group".
He added: "You're seeing that the individuals we've brought in are getting stronger all the time."

Competition for places within the squad will likely be fierce in the New Year, as has been the case for the majority of the campaign so far already, in truth.
There may also be exits, with Harry Ashfield among those who may be sent out on loan to gain more first team action while currently injured forward Ryan Hardie and defender Conor Coady have struggled to make an impact since moving to north Wales in the summer.
It remains abundantly clear that it's full steam ahead as far as Wrexham are concerned.
They may well miss out on a top six spot this season, but it would do nothing to alter the reality of what has been a magnificent journey so far under their Hollywood owners Reynolds and Mac.
The building blocks are continuing to be put in place on and off the pitch to ensure Wrexham keep growing as they stay firmly in pursuit of their dreams of reaching the Premier League.
