Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson will learn this week just how long he will have to wait before Lewis O’Brien can return to action.

O’Brien picked up a double injury in the 2-1 ‘Battle of Wales’ defeat at the Swansea.Com Stadium last Friday night.

Parkinson was furious that Swansea City’s Northern Ireland international Ethan Galbraith didn’t pick up more than a yellow card for his tackle on O’Brien a mere seven minutes after the Wrexham midfielder had come onto the pitch.

“If you look at the tackle it’s a bad one – high and dangerous,” fumed Parkinson post match.

“I think he was very lucky not to get a red card because Lewis has injured his knee and dislocated his shoulder. It’s tough for him because he’s been good for us.

“We will know more when we get him assessed, but it doesn’t look good. He’s a tough player and he would not have come off unless it was something really serious.”

As well as overcoming the loss of O'Brien, Parkinson needs to find a way to stop his side from dropping points once they take the lead.

Having surrendered their 14th minute lead it meant they now hold the record for dropping the most points in the Championship from a leading position – 18.

“It wasn’t a good night for us losing a derby, but we are resilient and strong and we will bounce back,” said Parkinson.

“When we are ahead we’ve had chances to kill off games and not taken them. We needed more control, because when we had control in the second half at Swansea we looked a decent side, but we need more of those moments.

“If you are ahead you have to make sure you aren’t just hanging on in there, but playing to get the next goal.

“We’ve got to look at that closely and rectify it as a group.”

As for Swansea, their fans were able to celebrate a third home win on the trot under new boss Vitor Matos and get excited about another potential early Christmas present with the news that another new high-profile investor in the club was at the game on Friday night.

Entrepreneur  Martha Stewart, a best-selling author of 99 lifestyle books, an Emmy Award–winning television show host, and a creator of the first multi-channel lifestyle company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, was a guest of the club’s owners.

Snoop Dogg and Croatian footballing legend Luca Modric have already invested in the Championship outfit and Stewart’s appearance has been taken as a sign she might well join them.
