Lily Woodham says she’s fulfilling a lifelong dream after completing a permanent move to Liverpool FC Women, returning to the Women’s Super League following her departure from Seattle Reign.
The Wales international - who played every minute of her country’s Euro 2025 campaign - becomes Liverpool’s fourth summer signing and joins a growing Welsh contingent at the club alongside Gemma Evans and Ceri Holland.
For Woodham, the transfer marks more than just a change of scenery – it’s the realisation of a childhood ambition.
“It’s amazing. Obviously I’m a fan of Liverpool, so it’s a dream come true really,” the 24-year-old said after putting pen to paper at Liverpool’s Melwood Training Centre.
“I’m really excited to meet everyone. It already feels like a home from home and everyone has been so nice to me and welcomed me.”
Her move comes after she mutually agreed to terminate her contract with Seattle Reign, whom she joined at the start of 2024.
Despite signing with the National Women's Soccer League side, Woodham spent the bulk of the 2024-25 season on loan at Crystal Palace, where she made 20 appearances, 19 of them starts, in the WSL.
Now, she returns to the English top flight with renewed ambition and a clear sense of belonging.
“I just want to bring everything I can to the team and always give my all in games and training,” she added.
Though just 24, Woodham arrives at Liverpool with a wealth of experience and as one of Wales’ most consistent performers of recent times.
Before heading to the U.S., she was captain at Reading, where she spent six years, and previously played for Bristol City and Charlton Athletic.
On the international stage, she has developed into a key figure for Wales since making her senior debut in 2020.
Woodham has now earned more than 40 caps and featured prominently during this summer’s Euros, starting all three group matches.
Liverpool, who finished seventh in the WSL last season, are aiming to push higher this campaign, and Woodham’s signing underlines their intent to bolster the squad with proven quality and international pedigree.
“It already feels like a home from home,” she said. “Everyone has been so nice to me and welcomed me.”
Woodham’s deal, the terms of which remain undisclosed, adds further depth to head coach Matt Beard’s defensive options, and her versatility and leadership experience could prove vital as Liverpool look to climb the table.
