The Dragon Diary

Ths Six Nations takes a break this week, which might be just as well for Wales as they lick their wounds following a difficult opening three rounds.

It means the focus in Wales shifts to football and snooker as some key fixtures for Wrexham and Swansea City in the Championship, as well as for Cardiff City in League One, share the limelight with the Welsh Open snooker championship in Llandudno.

The big Dogg arrives in Swansea for the first time on Tuesday night, when Snoop Dogg – announced earlier in the season as a new joint co-owner and investor – turns up for his first match since then, Tuesday night’s home game against Preston.

Wrexham, of course, have been down the American celeb road for a long time and also have an edge on the Swans in the league table – sixth compared to 15th.

On Tuesday night, Wrexham are home to Portsmouth.

Cardiff City – whose owner, Vincent Tan, cuts a much lower profile these days, look to recover from their heavy defeat at Plymouth, when they travel to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Welsh snooker get its week in the sun at Llandudno. Mark Williams is the highest-seeded of the Welsh quintet, with Ryan Day, Dylan Emery, Jackson Page and Jak Jones also in action from Monday.
