Sabri Lamouchi Lays Out The Table Of Truth For Cardiff City . . . And Calls For Reaction Against West Brom

Sabri Lamouchi has hit his Cardiff City players where it really hurts – in front of their faces.

The Bluebirds manager isn’t letting his Cardiff players escape from the reality of the precarious position they are currently in near the bottom of the Championship table.

Ahead of their game at home to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night, the Frenchman has posted copies of the Championship table throughout the club’s training base to ensure everyone knows where they stand.

“Now it is the final sprint, it is the money time and we must be ready for that. If we win three games, I think we will be safe, but that’s the minimum,” said Lamouchi.

“Everybody knows what we have to do. I’ve put the league table in the restaurant, on the stairs, in the medical room and in the locker room.

“The players need to know where they are and how many points they are in front and behind of other teams. They need to be aware of their situation.

“I’m not scared to do that, this is part of our job. We are absolutely inconsistent at the moment and we’ve only got 10 games left.

“Since I came in January, we’ve played eight games, lost five and won three. If we score first, we win, if we concede first, we lose. That’s something I need to work on.”

The Bluebirds currently sit in 21st place, six points above the bottom three. Meanwhile, eighth placed West Brom and three points off the play-off places and pushing at the other end of the table.

Lamouchi is the third manager of the season at Cardiff City Stadium and was brought in on a mission to save his side from relegation. If he can do that, then he might get a look in for a longer contract next season.

“You need to fight to the end of every game in the Championship. We beat Birmingham and Reading, but then gave two goals to Norwich,” added Lamouchi.

“We had a great game against Bristol City to win in the derby and I thought we had found the right mentality. But we went to Preston, had a good 45 minutes and then gave them an opportunity to score a stupid goal.

“Then they got another one when we had our goalkeeper sent off in the last minute. We are in a difficult situation, but we need to believe in ourselves a little bit more.

“The solution is to get more points – we need at least a point from every game. With 10, 15 or 20 points more this team would play differently.

“We have a difficult game against West Brom and then another difficult one at Rotherham on Saturday.”
