Russell Martin has emphasised the need for Swansea City to add to their attacking options in the transfer window, given the expected departures of Jamie Paterson and Michael Obafemi.
Both players are likely to be allowed to leave this month if the club receives acceptable offers and head coach Martin is keen to use any available cash injection to add more energy to his squad.
Following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Bristol City in the third round of the FA Cup as Ashton Gate, Martin said: “I think today highlights the areas we want to work on and why. It’s really clear.
“We like the shape because there’s no round pegs playing in square holes, but we need a few more options at the top end of the pitch.”
Martin admitted that his team’s performance was lacking in both energy and ruthlessness.

Despite taking the lead through Joel Piroe’s goal in the 15th minute and dominating the first half, the team’s energy levels dropped after halftime and Antoine Semenyo was able to score for Bristol City in the 75th minute, resulting in a replay.
Martin added: “I thought we were brilliant in the first half. We showed so much intensity. We probably tried to kill it a bit too early at times.
“We should have had more sustained attacks.
“We need to make more of the moments we get in and around their box. The boys were in a little bit of a rush and we lacked a bit of quality.”
