Ruben Colwill has praised the impact of manager Steve Morison, claiming his methods are behind Cardiff City’s upturn in form that is pulling them away from the Championship relegation zone.
Colwill scored one of Cardiff’s goals in their 2-1 win at Luton Town at the weekend, which made it three wins from four matches under Morison.
That sequence has enabled the club to extend the gap between themselves and Peterborough United – who are two places below them in 22nd spot – to five points.
“I’ve worked with Steve before with the U23s and I think the way he wants to play is clear,” said Wales midfielder Colwill.
“We’ve been working on it on the training pitch and now it is coming to fruition on the pitch on Saturdays and whenever else we play.”
After Jordan Clark had equalised for Luton, Sean Morrison – had who previously been left out of the side by Morison – won the game for the Bluebirds with a header from Ryan Giles’ cross.
Colwill believes Morrison’s contribution underlined the unity in the squad under the new manager, despite the fact the club captain had previously been dropped.

“The game showed we’re all together. Mozza hasn’t played a few games but he hasn’t sulked or moaned, he wants the best for the team.
“He’s come back in and done a great job and scored the winning goal.
“We’ve had a change in the style of play and as players, we needed to take more responsibility during the games. We’ve probably lost some games we shouldn’t have. We’ve all come together now.”
Cardiff now host Sheffield United on Saturday, before games against Birmingham City, Derby County, Coventry City and Bournemouth over the festive period.
Despite the victory, Morison has vowed to keep mixing up his selections and rely on the depth of his squad.
He said: “I made four changes, like I did against Huddersfield, and I’ll continue to do the same.
“It’s imperative we have fresh legs and fresh bodies. Sometimes it gives you people who have a little bit extra or a bit of a point to prove.
“It keeps people involved, it keeps people interested and they’ve got to realise they are one game away from starting a game of football, so they can’t shut off and down tools.

“There’s a point to it, a process to it. We have done it twice now and it has worked twice. We have got something to celebrate.
“The main thing now is that on Monday morning everyone comes back in with a smile on their face.”
Luton’s Welsh manager Nathan Jones admitted: “We’ve got a poor record against Cardiff here, and other teams enjoy playing against Cardiff at the minute in their run of form.
“We usually kick Cardiff’s run and that’s just a lack of bravery all over, whether that’s in the clinches, whether that’s in battle, whether that’s in bravery to get on it and dominate, we didn’t.
“We’ve played Cardiff three times when we’ve been in good form – 4-0, 2-0, 2-1 – and it’s not from anything elaborate, they don’t carve us open.
“We haven’t had to hold our hands up and go ‘wow, they’re a good side’. They just put the ball in our box and we don’t handle it.”
