Nomads On The Rise In Cymru Premier

Connah’s Quay made light work of Aberystwyth Town on Friday night as they kicked off the sixth round of the JD Cymru Premier. The Nomads moved up into second spot overnight and Andy Morrison will be delighted to have seen his side wrap up their third victory in six days, with a thumping 4-1 win. Morrison reshuffled his pack for the visit of Aber with John Disney, Declan Poole, and Michael Bakare coming into the starting line-up.

Connah’s Quay made light work of Aberystwyth Town on Friday night as they kicked off the sixth round of the JD Cymru Premier.

The Nomads moved up into second spot overnight and Andy Morrison will be delighted to have seen his side wrap up their third victory in six days, with a thumping 4-1 win.

Morrison reshuffled his pack for the visit of Aber with John Disney, Declan Poole, and Michael Bakare coming into the starting line-up.

Morrison’s early season Midas touch was confirmed as Bakare and Poole both got themselves on the scoresheet in the second-half to wrap up what was a comfortable win.

For Aberystwyth, manager Matthew Bishop is still trying to find the winning formula for his team after being handed their fourth defeat in six games.

Aber’s striker Marc Williams sent a dangerous header across the face of the goal in the opening exchanges before Connah’s Quay pressed ahead.

Callum Morris made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after Jamie Insall was brought down.

Ryan Wignall fired from close range with Connah’s Quay’s looking good value for their lead going in at the break.

Michael Bakare made it 3-0 a minute after the restart. A trademark run, cutting in from the right flank preceded a thumping finish up into the roof of the net confirmed the host’s dominance.

The night didn’t go entirely to plan for the Nomads and George Horan was sent off for a foul on Luke Boundford.

The numerical disadvantage didn’t affect the balance of the game with Declan Poole adding a fourth five minutes from time.

There was time for a brief consolation for Aberystwyth as Joe Phillips headed in a cross in from substitute Alex Boss.

BARRY, BALA AIMING TO GO TOP

With The New Saints not in action until Monday night, Barry Town and Bala Town both have the opportunity to claim top-spot.

Barry Town, third and a point off top, visit Airbus while Bala Town, fifth and two points behind, travel to Newtown.

Cefn Druids host Carmarthen Town, while bottom side Penybont make the trip to Caernarfon.
