Morrison Says Bluebirds Ready To Down The Owls In Crunch Clash

Sean Morrison has revved up Cardiff City for one last play-offs push in Saturday’s crunch clash with rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The Bluebirds head to Hillsborough knowing victory could see them snatch the final place on the last day of the season.

Russell Slade’s side kept their hopes alive on Saturday with the injury-time winner over Bolton to move within four points of the Owls.

Centre-back Morrison, 25, said: “This win was a massive result.

“We knew what we had to do with Derby and Wednesday drawing earlier and the chance was still there for us to creep up on them.

“We know we need three wins from our final three games and we’ve ticked one of them off against Bolton.

“Next week is like the Cup final. If we don’t get the win then it’s game over, season done but we haven’t worked this hard to just give up.

“But we know it’s going to be a tough place to go, a sell-out crowd and an intimidating atmosphere but we will be ready.

“I don’t think Wednesday will sit back and try and get the draw. They will come at us and we will go at them so it will be an entertaining game.

“It would be the perfect position if it was in our hands, but that’s not the case.

“All we can do is go up there and win and have the last game home to Birmingham then hope Wolves do us a favour against Wednesday.”

Morrison insists the players have never given up the belief they could finish in the top six even if some pundits and fans felt it was beyond them.

And he has heaped praise on manager Russell Slade who has kept City within sight despite being hit by a transfer embargo.

He added: “We have all believed we could get into the top six but there have been a lot going on away from the pitch but that’s credit to the manager.

“I think he has sone a fantastic job and exceeded a lot of expectations and the group he has got here.

“Even when we have had our backs to the wall which has been case for most of season we have always believed.

“If we can sneak into that top six on the last day then it’s a lottery in the play-offs.”
