Swansea City head coach Luke Williams insists his team can show the required mettle to get a much-needed win at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.
The Swans are gearing up for a challenging encounter as they travel to Home Park to face Wayne Rooney’s strugglers.
Both teams have much to prove, with Swansea aiming to capitalise on recent encouraging performances while Plymouth seek to end their slump in form under Rooney’s management.
The Swans head into the match after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Luton Town on Saturday, where Matt Grimes’ spectacular strike salvaged a point after Elijah Adebayo’s first-half goal put the Hatters ahead.
Despite winning only one of their last five outings, Williams insists his side have shown glimpses of promise in recent weeks.

Plymouth, on the other hand, find themselves in a precarious position, sitting 22nd in the Championship table and winless since November 5.
The Pilgrims have suffered heavy defeats in their last two matches, losing 4-0 to Bristol City and 6-0 to Norwich City, leaving Rooney under significant pressure to inspire a turnaround.
But they boast a strong home record, having lost only once at Home Park this season.
Williams said: “I have been down there a number of times and the fanbase is incredible, the ground is always very full and they make a lot of noise.
“You know you are in a game and if you allow the fans into it, they will really compound that and let you know you are in for a game.
“We have to control the game as much as we can and we have to be resilient and tough, because they are going to be fighting for everything and will have the support they need.”
The game marks Plymouth’s first outing since the appointment of Mike Phelan, the former Manchester United assistant, as their new assistant head coach.
Phelan joined following Pete Shuttleworth’s departure, providing additional experience to Rooney’s backroom staff.
Williams added: “There’s nothing that anyone can teach Wayne Rooney about football.
“I think that when he walks into any changing room, any set of players will respect him instantly and quite rightly – and so will I.
“I have absolutely zero doubts about his ability to manage a football club. I look forward to meeting him.”

Rooney, though, is facing mounting pressure after a difficult start to his tenure at Plymouth, and he described last week’s 4-0 loss to Bristol City as the toughest of his managerial career, saying he felt “embarrassed” by the performance.
Williams added: “No manager on the planet is capable of just making any group successful on their own, however good the manager is.
“A manager needs plenty of people around him and plenty of things to help him be successful, and Wayne Rooney is no different.”
