Francesco Guidolin has stressed he wants Andre Ayew to stay at Swansea City, but is unsure of the player’s future.
The Ghana striker has been linked with a move to Chelsea and West Ham in recent weeks while there was interest from Sunderland during the last transfer window.
Ayew was one of the Swans key players in last season’s successful relegation fight finishing top scorer with 12 goals.
Guidolin said: “Andre is a good guy and a good player, I hope he stays with us but I don’t know.
“It is important to keep him, but it is not my job.
“My job is to train and to get the team to play well and to get good results. I am confident he will stay.”
The Swans have to bolster thwir attacking options rather than depleting them with Alberto Paloschi and Eder both leaving in the summer.
And Bafetimbi Gomis, who did not feature in Saturday’s 5-1 friendly win over Bristol Rovers, also looks on his way out to Marseille in a loan deal.
“I don’t know if we are close to signing a striker, this is a question for the chairman and the new owners,” added Guidolin.
“I speak with the chairman every week when there is the possibility and he knows what we need. It is a question for him.”
Ayew was on target at the Memorial Ground with Leroy Fer, Stephen Kingsley and Kyle Naughton also on target as the Swans led 4-0 at half-time.
Wayne Routledge added the fifth after Rovers Substitute Luke James bagged a consolation.
