After consecutive defeats in the league and FA Cup, Barry-Murphy insists that Cardiff’s trademark resilience has once again been evident in the days leading up to their trip to Bloomfield Road.
“I’m speaking about how mindful we are of how hard we’re pushing the players because every time we’ve had a perceived setback in this dressing room, the response has been incredible,” he said.
“The Bolton game, that’s a pretty tough experience to go through, conceding in such a manner late in the game and to bounce back pre-Wrexham with the training performance that we saw, then produce that level of performance in the game.
“To then go again and put in a performance that was slightly frustrating at Peterborough, it’s just because we want so much so soon that we perceive it as being frustrating.
“This week, training has been of the highest level and I like everything that I’ve seen from the team. The hunger within the changing room is to compete against each other and strive to be in a position where each player can play on Saturday.
“That’s all that we can ask for and I do consider myself truly privileged to be in a club with a group of players who are so honest with the way that they attack every single week.”

Cardiff’s recent setbacks — a late loss at Bolton Wanderers and an FA Cup exit at Peterborough United — have dented their momentum, but Barry-Murphy says the players’ attitude in training has been “exceptionally good” as they aim to rediscover their rhythm.
The Irishman believes the reaction reflects the character of a squad that has repeatedly bounced back from disappointment this season.

“We're looking to really find the consistency in performances and make ourselves the best version that we can be on a more regular basis,” he added.
“If we can strive to achieve that, then we're very confident that we can produce a performance that will give us a great chance to win on Saturday.”
Cardiff travel to Lancashire sitting third in League One, just two points off top spot with a game in hand.
However, Barry-Murphy is wary of a resurgent Blackpool side who have claimed back-to-back victories since new manager Ian Evatt took charge.
“Blackpool have done very well since Ian Evatt has gone in there, two satisfactory wins for them,” he said.
“The quality of their squad has been pretty evident, but we’re focused on ourselves and training has been exceptionally good this week.
“We’re looking to find real consistency in our performances and make ourselves the best version that we can be on a more regular basis.
“If we can strive to achieve that, then we’re confident of a performance that will give us a good chance to gain a positive result on Saturday.”

Barry-Murphy has praised the spirit within the group, insisting that the players’ honesty and commitment are what continue to drive Cardiff’s promotion challenge.
“The talent in our team is obvious. I think the team and squad have been so dedicated and impressive in everything that we've demanded of them,” he said.
“I do consider myself truly privileged to be in a club with a group of players who are so honest in the way they attack every single week.
“If we can remain consistent in the way that we train and then play, I think it makes it a very, very good place to be.”
The Bluebirds will, however, be without several key players for the weekend clash.
Will Fish is unlikely to feature, while Perry Ng and Chris Willock remain sidelined until after the international break.
“Since the game against Newport County, Will has had a knee problem and we’ve been monitoring him since then," added Barry-Murphy.
“Due to the nature of Dylan Lawlor’s issues, we’ve been quite stretched so Will has been the one who has played all the games, whereas we have rotated the other position at centre-back. The international fixtures come at a good time for us to try and get everyone fit.
“Will joins Perry Ng, who we’ll look to have back after the international fixtures and Chris Willock is in an identical timeline to Perry. Ollie Tanner is making good progress and Eli King is longer term.”
