Steve Morison is hoping his old Millwall mate Jed Wallace doesn’t take advantage when Cardiff City head to the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

Wallace made his Millwall debut playing in the same side as Morison at Bradford in 2017 and went on to play alongside him through to the end of the 2018-19 campaign. He’s also a player he’d love to have in his camp – if he could afford him.

“There’ll always be an offer on the table for Jed, it will just be a lot less than what he’d be offered elsewhere,” said Moriosn of the man who joined Steve Bruce at West Brom this season.

“He’s a good player, but someone we wouldn’t be able to facilitate, financially. He is one of many good players they’ve got and we will try and stop him having an impact in the game.

“He’s most probably going to try a bit harder because he’ll want to text me after and tell me he beat me!”

The Bluebirds have won two of their opening three matches in the Championship and will travel full of confidence after their 1-0 home wins over Norwich and Birmingham. Bruce has seen a difference in tonight’s opponents and taken notice of what he’s seen.

“They’ve had a decent start, got a couple of wins under their belt and like any other Championship game, it’ll be an ultimate test for us,” said Bruce.

“They’re certainly changing their approach because in the past Cardiff have always been a little bit direct, a little bit back to front. They won quite comfortably against Birmingham.

“New manager, new style, new way, different mind-set – it’s not the Cardiff of old.”
