Caernarfon Move Top as Rivals Stumble in Cymru Premier

It was a dramatic Bank Holiday programme in the Cymru Premier as Caernarfon Town went to the top of the table.

Caernarfon Town fans have seen their team  climb to the summit of the JD Cymru Premier table after a 2-0 victory over Bala Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Cofis, unbeaten in their opening four fixtures, made it three wins from four with second-half strikes from Phil Mooney and Osebi Abadaki.

Bala’s task was made harder on the hour when Lassana Mendes saw red, and Caernarfon duly capitalised to edge one point clear of Penybont and three ahead of Briton Ferry Llansawel and defending champions The New Saints.

Elsewhere, Briton Ferry’s perfect start came to an abrupt halt as they slipped to their first defeat, Alaric Jones striking in the 93rd minute to give Haverfordwest County a dramatic 1-0 win at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.

TNS also dropped ground after being held 1-1 by newly promoted Colwyn Bay.

Manager Craig Harrison was dismissed before half-time, but Jordan Williams put the champions in front 10 minutes after the restart.

The Seagulls, though, battled back, with ex-TNS forward Aeron Edwards netting the equaliser on 69 minutes to secure a precious point for the visitors.

Last season’s runners-up Penybont climbed into second spot with a comfortable 2-0 home triumph over Llanelli Town.

Mael Davies and Chris Venables both struck in the opening half, continuing Llanelli’s difficult return to the top flight – they have now shipped 14 goals in just four matches.

Meanwhile, Barry Town United snatched a late point at Cardiff Met.

Sam Jones gave the Archers the lead just past the hour, but Robbie Willmott – once of Newport County – struck deep into stoppage time to make it 1-1.
