Snoop Dogg and Swansea City are about to go public with their love, with the rapper taking in his first match at the club, as Ian Mitchelmore reports.

The mood at Swansea City could not be much better as Snoop Dogg prepares to make his first visit to the Swansea.com Stadium.

Vitor Matos' men claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bristol City on Saturday lunchtime to extend their outstanding home record under the Portuguese head coach.

They have now collected 22 of the last 24 points on offer on their own patch in the Championship - winning seven times, drawing once and losing none during that sequence.

But despite victory over the Robins, the Swans remain six points adrift of the play-off places, although they are continuing to inch their way up the table, little by little, largely as a result of their near-perfect home form, which is masking a few sins in their away performances.

Zan Vipotnik once again did the damage last weekend as his 26th minute volley proved enough for Swansea to earn a ninth win in 17 Championship matches since Matos was named as Alan Sheehan's successor in November.

It took the Slovenia international's tally to 16 league goals for the campaign, and 18 across all competitions for Swansea when including his efforts against Plymouth Argyle and Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

So, it's no surprise that there has been a major buzz ahead of Snoop Dogg's visit to Swansea for Tuesday night's Championship showdown with fellow top six hopefuls, Preston North End.

The fixture with the Lilywhites had sold out several days in advance, such has been the excitement of catching a glimpse of the club's American minority investor.

And unlike the norm, the North Stand will house a significant number of Swansea supporters after additional tickets were made available to the Jack Army due to Preston taking a relatively small portion of their away allocation.

The old Dogg will arrive straight from Italy, where he has been learning a few new tricks at the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

He was there for American TV, a brazen attempt to boost ratings, but if he’s got the energy left to sprinkle some stardust from the pockets of his ski-jacket into the centre circle at the Swansea.com Stadium then the club will be happy enough.

Matos diplomatically said his focus was on conjuring up a plan to secure another valuable three points on Tuesday night, and not on being distracted by the stature of California native Snoop Dogg in the stands.

However, the 37-year-old was willing to admit that Snoop's appearance would significantly add to the occasion.

"It's always good and exciting for the club and the city having someone like him and his profile here," said Matos.

And on the bumper crowd, the Swansea boss said: "I think that's massive for us. We just want to put on a good performance for our fans."

Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux made a pair of saves to help Swansea - now eight points better off than they were at the same stage last season - get over the line against Bristol City.

It was the goalkeeper's 10th league clean sheet of the season, and his performances this term have played a significant role in ensuring fans have the ability to discuss the possibility of a possible play-off push at present.

As an avid fan of Snoop Dogg, the 32-year-old shot stopper is hoping to put on a show for the iconic rapper, and the packed Swansea.com Stadium crowd.

"I think it'll be a great occasion. Having someone like him come down and watch us, we feel really grateful that we're part of this football club," he said.

"He's such a big name, not just in America, but worldwide. Having him as part of our club is a great thing.

"I have watched a lot of documentaries and he's been in them. Having someone like him here will be great.

"But we have a job to do first, and that's to hopefully get three points in front of a really good crowd."

Whether or not Swansea's Next Episode features a play-off campaign remains to be seen, but if they continue to Drop It Like It's Hot, particularly at home, Snoop Dogg can look forward to a special night in SA1 on Tuesday.
