Airbus Take Flight to Flint Mountain as JD Cymru North Race Resumes

JD Cymru North

JD Cymru North

Prospects of victory for the top three in the JD Cymru North this weekend look good with the high-flying trio all taking on sides at the lower end of the table, reports Dave Jones.

Leaders Airbus UK Broughton travel to Flint Mountain, second-place Llandudno entertain Caersws and Holywell Town in third host Penrhyncoch, all on Saturday afternoon.

The weekend's action starts on Friday with Newtown seeking a home win over Brickfield Rangers to remain in touch with the leading triumvirate.

Also on Friday, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 will aim to bounce back from last weekend's disappointing loss at Denbigh when the Lilywhites welcome Mold Alexandra to the Hops and Barley Community Stadium.

Rhyl's last home game in front of their supporters brought a dismal 5-2 loss to Newtown, so Paul Moore's side have much incentive to grab a positive result over the Alex.

Onto Saturday, Buckley Town will be out to make it seven matches unbeaten when they journey to Gresford Athletic, who were 5-2 losers in their last home league test against table-toppers Airbus.

Unbeaten in four, Guilsfield can expect a tricky test when they lock horns with visitors Denbigh Town, who will no doubt be on a high after last weekend's triumph over Rhyl 1879.

Still without a win after eight attempts, can Holyhead Hotspur finally break their duck when they greet Ruthin Town at the New Stadium?

Hotspur lie one off bottom spot, while Ruthin are just two places above with only one win in nine starts.

ARDAL NORTH EAST

Although not in league action due to FAW Amateur Trophy duties, Llanuwchllyn's four-point lead at the summit of Ardal North East ensures they cannot be passed this weekend.

However, Cefn Albion will be determined to close the gap to a point when the second-place hosts clash with Llanfair United at The Muga on Saturday.

Mid-table Llanfair have had an up-and-down campaign so far but have performed well on their travels.

Albion were thumped 5-1 at home by Felinheli in the FAW Trophy last Saturday, so will be straining at the leash to put the record straight.

Fourth-place Corwen are home to Knighton Town in third. This one has the look of a very close contest with the visitors seeking to maintain their unbeaten record.

Builth Wells versus Radnor Valley and Kerry against Llanrhaeadr have the makings of being tight encounters, but bottom side Lex XI could find the task too tough when Penycae land at Stansty Park.

Still without a victory, Llangollen Town will be anxious to stop the rot at home to Llandrindod Wells, while Rhos Aelwyd crave to bounca back from Wednesday's FAW Trophy loss at Prestatyn Town when sixtj-place Bow Street land at Ponciau Park.

ARDAL NORTH WEST

No doubt buoyed by Wednesday's FAW Amateur Trophy success over Rhos Aelwyd, Prestatyn Town will target a second win in three days at Bastion Gardens when they take on Connah's Quay Town on Friday night.

The Seasiders have added to their strike power with the recent signing of prolific front man Kieran Ellis.

With leaders CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 in Amateur Trophy combat, Llangefni Town and Porthmadog could both take over top spot on Saturday.

Second-place Cefni travel to Llay Welfare, while Port in third face the difficult prospect of a visit from CPD Llannefydd.

Having lost 3-2 at home CPD Y Felinheli in the Ardal North Cup just a fortnight ago, Bethesda Athletic will be out for revenge when the same opponents descend on Parc Meurig again for a league tussle.

Rock bottom St Asaph City, with new management and players on board, need to tuen the tide quickly and a trip to Pwllheli will pose them a tricky assignment.
