Airbus Bid to Get WBS League Cup Campaign off to a Flyer

This weekend sees JD Cymru North clubs compete in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup (North). Dave Jones looks ahead.

On Friday night, unbeaten Airbus UK Broughton welcome previous holders Mold Alexandra to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

A home win looks a good call in this one, but it is much harder to predict the same evening's tie between Ruthin Town and Gresford Athletic, two teams which have made a less than convincing start to the campaign, both with one win in five.

Saturday sees Caersws aim to repeat their early season 2-0 league success over Brickfield Rangers when the Wrexham side again visit the Recreation Ground no doubt still smarting from last weekend's 5-0 league defeat at Airbus.

Flint Mountain face a tough assignment at Guilsfield, while Holyhead Hotspur will aim to make the most of home advantage when they host a Buckley Town outfit which has already whipped the Holy Islanders 4-0 in the Nathaniel MG Cup at The Globe this term. Revenge for Hotspur?

In-form Llandudno against equally on-fire Newtown at Go Goodwin's Stadium has the potential to be the tie of the round, while current Cymru North leaders Holywell Town can expect as tricky a test as ever at Penrhyncoch.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 will target a reverse result at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium when they take on a Denbigh Town side which has already knocked them out of the Nathaniel MG Cup on penalties this season.

It is league action all the way in the TIER 3 ARDAL NORTH EAST and WEST  at the weekend.

Eight games take place in Ardal North East on Saturday.

Second-place Cefn Albion will look to take advantage of Builth Wells' erratic start to the campaign when the Wrexham-area side visit Lant Fields.

Corwen will be anxious to erase the memories of last weekend's surprise Welsh Cup defeat at Tier 4 Broughton United when they host lowly Llanrhaeadr.

Goal specialists Dolgellau Athletic could well have the beating of fellow mid-table hosts Kerry, while next-to-bottom Lex XI will be desperate for some reward at home to a Bow Street side which has been unusually inconsistent to date.

Llandrindnd Wells versus Knighton Town has the look of a close, high-quality contest and an unbeaten Rhos Aelwyd definitely start favourites away to bottom team Llangollen Town.

No doubt goal machine Meilir Williams will be a danger for leaders Llanuwchllyn when they greet Llanfair United and Penycae look a decent shout to see off Radnor Valley at Afoneitha Road.

FRIDAY night could deliver a few goals in Ardal North West with three matches on the agenda.

Undefeated leaders CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 will be all guns blazing for the visit of Connah's Quay Town.

Bangor have won seven and drawn one in all competitions so far with 41 goals scored.

A fifth straight victory will be Porthmadog's assignment when Llanrwst United land at Y Traeth and the closest battle of the night could well take place at Bastion Gardens where fourth-place Prestatyn Town welcome CPD Llannefydd in fifth. Both teams have yet to suffer a league loss in 2025-26.

Saturday brings another battle of undefeated foes when Llangefni Town take on NFA at Cae Bob Parry. A strong attacking side come up against one of the best defences in the league.

After winning in the Welsh Cup last weekend, CPD Pwllheli might fancy their chances of a follow up three points at home to bottom side Penmaenmawr Phoenix, and Mynydd Isa versus Bethesda Athletic looks a fair candidate for a draw.

St Asaph City will search for their first league win when CPD Y Felinheli provide the opposition at Roe Plas Meadows, while Trearddur Bay versus Llay Welfare could be a close-run encounter.
