Harry Arter looks set to move Fulham after completing his one-season loan campaign with Cardiff City. Injured Arter, who has a calf strain, will not feature for the Bluebirds in their final Premier League match at Manchester United on Sunday. Fellow loan recruit Victor Camarasa is also highly unlikely to play due to a bruised thigh muscle, as both prepare to leave the club.
Neil Warnock wants to know that Cardiff City are serious about a promotion bid before he commits to staying on as manager. The Bluebirds boss is due to meet the club’s hierarchy on Monday as the uncertainly over his future continues. Warnock appears to want to stay and try and extend his extraordinary record on promotions to a ninth success by leading the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Neil Warnock has received a thumbs up from Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan to remain as the club’s manager despite relegation from the Premier League. The Bluebirds manager had previously insisted he wanted to see out the final year of his contract, but appeared to be wavering at the weekend when he claimed he had “no idea” about his future and would be having talks with Tan and chairman Mehmet Dalman. Warnock seemed to question his own future after Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace confirmed Cardiff’s return to the Sky Bet Championship, with the 70-year-old saying he would manager for a one further year, but could not say where that would be.
Neil Warnock may be the last of the old school managers, but Cardiff City’s players still want him taking the register when they turn up on the first day of term next season. It will be a campaign in the Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League, but a squad left frozen in the bottom three with a game to go believe the fire and fury of their touchline warrior can warm them again. A few weeks ago, Warnock was talking openly about his desire to stay on for one more season, help the club find a successor, and then look after his garden in Cornwall.
Neil Warnock insisted he was proud of his relegated Cardiff City team, but was unable to confirm he would stay in charge at the club next season. The Bluebirds manager – who had hoped to take his side’s battle to avoid the drop to a final match at Manchester United – admitted a ruthless Palace side were simply too good for his players on a day when they had to win. But after weeks of insisting he would remain at the club to see out the final year of his contract, the 70-year-old was uncertain about his future. He would, he said, take some time to reflect and have talks with the club’s Malaysian owner Vincent Tan.
Neil Warnock admits Wilfried Zaha has the talent to condemn Cardiff City to relegation this afternoon, which would be a poor reward for the manager who helped revive the striker’s career. Warnock may end up on the receiving end if a Zaha-inspired Crystal Palace win at the Bluebirds, who host their final match of the season still seeking some kind of late campaign miracle. Only a victory can take Cardiff’s survival struggle to a final day trip to Old Trafford. Lose, and they are definitely down; draw, and they are effectively so given their inferior goal difference to Brighton.
Neil Warnock has admitted Cardiff City will have to cash in on big money offers for their players should relegation be confirmed on Saturday. Anything less than a victory at home to Crystal Palace – or a shock victory by Brighton at Arsenal on Sunday – would condemn Cardiff to an immediate return to the Championship after one season in the top flight.
Fulham 1, Cardiff City 0 Cardiff City live to fight another day. Their Premier Division plight near the foot of the table leaves them in a precarious position, but there is still hope. The Bluebirds now need to beat both Crystal Palace at home and Manchester United at Old Trafford to have any chance of […]
Cardiff City 2, Leeds United 1 Craig Bellamy’s Bluebirds are on course for a trophy double. Cardiff City’s youth team won the Professional Development Under-18 League South – and now they are through to the play-off final. Former Liverpool, Manchester City and Cardiff striker Bellamy is not currently in charge of the team, but he played […]
Neil Warnock hopes for a silver lining to a cloud-covered season and evidence for his old-school belief that all that glitters is not gold. The Cardiff City manager takes his team to Fulham tomorrow, the club just one place below them in the Premier League but who were relegated a month ago despite spending £100m last summer following promotion. Cardiff parted with less than £40m and if they can win at Craven Cottage and go on to end with their heads above the bottom three, then the club will have disproved the modern adage that promoted clubs must generally follow a boom or bust economic strategy in order to survive.
Scott Parker insists Cardiff City have exceeded expectations in prolonging their Premier League status this long, but is ready to switch off the life support on Saturday. The Fulham caretaker manager is searching for a third successive victory for a club that have already been relegated. If they manage it – and Brighton win at home against Newcastle later that same evening – then the Bluebirds will effectively be down as the Seagulls would be six points clear with two games left and a vastly superior goal difference.
Cardiff City have won a championship. The young Bluebirds lifted the Professional Development League Under-18 Southern title, having led the table for most of this season. They have qualified for the play-offs and will face Leeds United at home in the semi-finals. That one-off tie is to be played at Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday […]
