Cardiff City manager Steve Morison insists his new goal hero Jordan Hugill is not a replacement for Kieffer Moore and he would like to pair the strikers together. Hugill scored six minutes into his Bluebirds debut as Cardiff won for the first time in seven games to ease their relegation fears with a 2-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. The Norwich City striker – who joined Cardiff on loan on Saturday after a barren spell at West Brom in the first half of the season – is viewed by many of the club’s fans as a likely replacement for Moore, who they fear will be sold on deadline day.
Max Watters was left feeling mad with frustration by his first spell at Cardiff City – but hopes his second will be a smoother ride. The striker was sent out on loan by former Bluebirds boss Mick McCarthy last summer, even though Watters had only just arrived for £1m from Crawley. Now, current Cardiff manager Steve Morison is hoping Watters’ recent flood of six goals in six games at MK Dons can help the Welsh strugglers to a vital victory at home to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Ryan Giles could be heading back to Cardiff City with Wolves reported to be keen to allow him to return to the Bluebirds. The winger was arguably Cardiff’s most consistent attacking performer in the first half of the Championship campaign when he provided nine assists in 21 games in his first loan spell. Now, it seems Wolves are willing for Giles to go back and complete the season with Steve Morison’s side with the Cardiff manager having already expressed his desire to re-hire the 21-year-old.
Steve Morison appears to be gambling his future on provoking a response from his Cardiff City players after he accused them of lacking the stomach for a fight. The Bluebirds manager – who has been criticised by former stars in recent weeks for laying into individual players – poured scorn on his entire squad for what he saw as character failings in their 3-2 defeat at Bristol City. Morison was appointed Cardiff’s permanent boss in November, but only until the end of the season and has won just two of 10 matches since.
By Paul Jones New Cardiff City signing Tommy Doyle asked Hamburg to end his loan spell in Germany in order to play more games. The 20-year-old midfielder – who had joined the Bluebirds on loan until the end of the season – has spent the first half of the season in the Bundesliga 2, farmed […]
Steve Morison has warned his misfiring Cardiff City strikers they must start scoring – or else they will be shipped out. The ultimatum was given after the Bluebirds manager saw him team lose 1-0 at home to Blackburn – their eighth defeat in their last nine at home in the league. Cardiff drew a blank at home for the seventh time this season and have scored one goal in their last three Championship matches.
Cody Drameh’s Premier League quality can help Cardiff City pull away from the Championship relegation zone, insists manager Steve Morison. Drameh has completed a loan move from Leeds United until the end of the season and the 20-year-old could make his debut this weekend at home to high-flying Blackburn Rovers. The England U21 defender has made three Premier League appearances for Leeds this season and Morison believes he can follow the success of Mark McGuinness, who has arguably been Cardiff’s best player this season following his switch last summer from Arsenal.
By Rob Carbon James Rowberry has delved into the JD Cymru Premier League to uncover his latest signing at Newport County. His predecessor, Michael Flynn, brought in Priestly Farquharson from Connah’s Quay Nomads last season and now Rowberry has snapped up Penybont’s James Waite. While Farquharson was an England beach football international, the 22-year-old Waite […]
By Paul Jones Steve Morison has admitted he gave Isaak Davies “tough love” last month but hopes his young Cardiff City striker will continue to respond by becoming an FA Cup hero against Liverpool. Davies scored one of the Bluebirds’ two goals in their 2-1 extra-time victory over Preston on Sunday – a victory that […]
Rubin Colwill must step up and fill the void left by the departed loan star Ryan Giles for Cardiff City to prosper in the second half of the season. That’s the view of Giles’ namesake, David Giles, with the former Bluebird and Wales international urging Colwill to rise to the challenge. Cardiff play their first knockout match of 2022 on Sunday, when they host Preston North End in the Third Round of the FA Cup in a tie that is live on S4C.
By Gareth James Cardiff City defender Aden Flint has had his red card against West Brom overturned and avoided a three-match ban. Flint and West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone were sent off at the final whistle as tempers boiled over following Sunday’s 1-1 Sky Bet Championship draw at The Hawthorns. A post on the FA […]
By Lucy Rees Max Watters is “really excited” about returning to Cardiff following a spell on loan with Milton Keynes Dons. The 22-year-old – who joined last year for £1 million – was loaned out to MK Dons at the start of the season. “I spoke to the manager and he said that he’d like […]
