By Harry Corish Having witnessed Wales’ final match before the World Cup on Sunday night, Red Wall members are now turning their attention to the tournament itself. Cardiff City Only Ever Sack Their Managers . . . They Never Lose Them To Somebody Else

Cardiff City often appear a strange club and the sacking of Steve Morison only seems logical when viewed through a lens adjusted for all those peculiarities. Why now? What now? Who now? Where now? It’s a club where there always appears to be more questions than answers. Get a new man in less than a year ago, brief him to completely revamp the squad and sign 17 new players, and then dismiss him 10 games into the season.

Cardiff City’s Steve Morison Insists Good Times Were Always Coming

Steve Morison insists Cardiff City took just rewards with their victory at Middlesbrough, claiming the first away win of the season was build on solid form. The Bluebirds repelled Middlesbrough’s second-half comeback to claim a 3-2 victory at the Riverside. Morison’s side looked to be strolling to all three points as they claimed a three-goal lead at the interval thanks to strikes from Callum O’Dowda, Mark Harris and Perry Ng.

Cardiff City’s Steve Morison Vows To Roll 500 Miles . . . And Then 500 More

Cardiff City are preparing for a week from hell with more than 1,000 miles and 18 hours of travelling in a bus to take in games at Middlesbrough and Huddersfield in the space of five days. Steve Morison’s men may have had a few unexpected days off due to the death of The Queen last weekend, but they face their two biggest journeys of the season back-to-back as they seek to climb out of the Championship relegation zone. There was a time when the club’s finances ran to chartering flights to head that far north, but those days are now long gone.

Swansea City And Russell Martin . . . A Solid Coach Trying To Build On Shaky Foundations

With no EFL or Premier League football going ahead this weekend, Daniel Parker considers recent activity at Swansea City – the Welsh club who seem to have the best chance of a successful season. It will require something special from their head coach, however, and the chances of him receiving much help from the club’s owners are remote. It’s been a mediocre start to the season for Wales’ big three. Newport County have shown glimpses of promise – particularly in the League Cup – but have struggled to build up any kind of consistency in League Two.

Angharad James Wins 100 Caps And Wales Attract Record 12,741 Fans . . . Now They Want 20,000 New Players

Angharad James achieved two milestones this week – both of which underline how youth is powering the surge of interest in women’s football in Wales. Firstly, she won her 100th cap for her country and become the youngest to reach that landmark when Wales drew 0-0 with Slovenia to make the World Cup play-offs on Tuesday night. Secondly, the 28-year-old was part of a team that smashed the record for an attendance for a women’s football match in Wales, with over 12,741 turning up for the game at Cardiff City Stadium,

Wales Conquer First World Cup Summit . . . But Taller Mountain Range Still To Be Climbed, Says Gemma Grainger

Gemma Grainger insists Wales still have plenty of hard work ahead of them before they reach their goal of World Cup qualification. The national team manager felt Wales deserved their play-off place after a goalless draw with Slovenia saw them through to next month’s knockout stage. Wales had to survive some scares on a nervy night at the Cardiff City Stadium but, in the end, Grainger’s side managed the game superbly to book their play-off spot.

Cardiff City Boss Steve Morison Tells His Players To Harden Up And Lose “Soft Underbelly”

Steve Morison has told his Cardiff City players to harden up after they fell to their third defeat in four matches at his former club. The Bluebirds manager was angered by another punchless display in a 2-0 loss at Millwall. Cardiff have now scored one goal in their last five games and picked up just two points – relegation form that has seen them fall to one place above the relegation zone.

Cardiff City Linked With West Brom’s Callum Robinson As Steve Morison Admits Long List Of No-Go Strikers

Cardiff City are reported to be in talks with West Bromwich Albion over signing Callum Robinson after Bluebirds boss Steve Morison admitted the club had been turned down by a number of strikers. Morison watched his side slump to a 2-1 home defeat to Luton Town on Tuesday night, after which the manager had a heated conversation with opposite number Nathan Jones about the manner of the Welsh boss’s post-match celebrations. Of more concern to Cardiff fans is their recent slump which has seen them not win in their last four games, during which they have scored just once.

Cardiff City’s Rubin Colwill To Focus On Recovery After First Start

Rubin Colwill says he will concentrate on recovery after finally starting his first game of the season for Cardiff City. The Wales youngster – who hopes to be part of Rob Page’s World Cup plans this autumn – played 88 minutes of the goalless home draw with Preston at the weekend. It was Colwill’s first start for the club after four substitute appearances and rumours of both fitness issues and a suggested lack of faith held by manager Steve Morison in Colwill’s ability to fit into a team pattern.
