Cardiff City continued their busy summer transfer window, signing Republic of Ireland International Callum Robinson with a permanent deal on deadline day.

City fans wanted to see a Striker brought in and Steve Morrison and Cardiff’s recruitment team were able to get their hands on a fantastic Championship quality Forward.

Meanwhile, on the other side of South Wales, Swansea were able to hold on to both their prized assets in Michael Obafemi and Joel Piroe on deadline day.

Having lost the fantastic Flynn Downes earlier in the window to West Ham, Swansea remained resolute on their valuations of their best players, much to the delight of fans.

The day got even better for Swans fans, who may have been nervous about losing their best players, when the club added Wales u21’s Right Wing Back Fin Stevens from Brentford on loan, who will hopefully slot into Russell Martin’s system seamlessly.

Robinson is a shrewd signing for Morrison’s Cardiff team. Having come through Aston Villa’s academy and the Republic of Ireland’s age grade system with Jack Grealish, there is clear quality.

The 27-year-old has had spells in the Premier League with Sheffield United and West Brom before more recently playing in the Championship for the Baggies.

Robinson said: “I’m buzzing. It’s another adventure for me and a challenge I’m looking forward to. I can’t wait to meet the boys and the staff.

“I spoke with the Gaffer and I saw the match against West Brom, and City love playing football. That is me to a tee.

“I love scoring goals and assisting. It’s what I’ve done most of my career. I’m hoping I can do plenty more of that here and help this team.”

Cardiff have looked a different side this season with Steve Morrison changing their style of play, but the bluebirds have struggled for goals so far this season.

Robinson has a wealth of experience now and while he is not the most prolific scorer, he knows where the back of the net is.

Steve Morison added: “I’m delighted to have Callum on board. He’s a very talented player, and he can play anywhere across the forward line.

“He’s coming in to help the squad, and I’m really looking forward to working with him.

“I’d like to thank Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Ken Choo for their support in bringing Callum to the Club.”

In other Welsh transfer news, Dan James has made his move to Fulham on a season long loan, while Ethan Ampadu returns to Serie A on loan for Spezia and Luke Jephcott moves to Swindon Town on loan.
